There is an important question that needs answering.
Is it possible this is yet another “problem-solution” activism to sell some other products and services?
This is a valid question.
To explain that:
1. a water company (e.g. STW) deliberately poisons the water (causes a problem while disregards your health)
2. anti-fluoridation activists (we hope some not most) who bring awareness of the problem but rather than aiming to deliver a permanent change/solution (e.g. forcing STW to stop adding poisons into the water) make some smoke but only to offer an intermediate solution to the problem what are the water filtration systems and distillers. This leads to ongoing cost of replacing them and hoping that these filters actually do the job and remove fluoride and heavy metals from it.
How do you think what would be the impact on the companies making these filtration systems and distillers if the problem was eliminated at the source?
Exactly, these companies could register a decline in sales of filtration systems, filters and distillers because the tap water in a particular area is (at least) no longer deliberately contaminated by the water company. It does not mean it could but it is possible.
However considering the fact the water companies e.g. Thames Water do discharge sewer into the rivers you still want to filter the water.
However at the moment there are no filters that can remove fluoride effectively. Even if they can I would still not trust or take the risk.
The idea of every house being a water treatment plant is a bit too much, don’t you think? Selfish and unsustainable approach. It makes a lot more sense to do most of it at the source but first and foremost make sure the water company is not making things worse for you, the consumer!
We can assume that it is not in the interest of both parties to solve the original problem.
People behind the water company have their own reasons to poison the water while self-interested activists can and use fear as a marketing tactic to convince more people into buying these filtration systems and/or distillers since they know that frightened consumers will want to address the problem immediately (for themselves) not to wait 10+ years for a lengthy political or legal process to complete.
That is why the motives not of just one side but of both sides require public scrutiny.
STW Poison is after a permanent solution where a water company ceases to add fluoride (in this case Hexafluorosilicic Acid) into the water.
Have you ever seen anything done if a particular problem was not in the interest of at least one businessman or a businesswoman? If it’s not it usually never gets done.
That is why it seems the one and only viable alternative is a grass root movement which eventually becomes strong enough to raise funds to hire lawyers to fight for their rights but also to make things happen sooner than later, when it is too late e.g. a cancer epidemic.
That’s why every little help counts!
However if the lead activists are on the behest of companies making water filtration systems and distillers or even worse on behalf of water companies themselves then expect it will take 10+ years but most likely it will never materialise or in your lifetime.
We are here to make it happen sooner than later and will look at the hands of any activist who helps to speed or slow things down.
The people who are against or sabotage the movement want the discussion to remain as an online discussion. This way any progress can be controlled on a particular platform or platforms and lengthen in time indefinitely. They want people to be paranoid but dispersed enough not to take action.
We are about activism primarily in the field and a word of mouth so please speak out, talk to your neighbour, in a pub etc.
